What can the Sony HDR-FX1 do?
1080i High Definition Video
A revolution in form and function, the HDR-FX1
allows you to play and record interlaced high definition video at
resolutions up to 1440 x 1080 for professional quality video with vivid
colors and striking detail.
Real Time HD
Codec Engine
A Sony developed Real Time MPEG encoding and
decoding system that provides efficient MPEG-2 compression. With the Real
Time HD Codec Engine, recording and playback of high definition video is
possible on the same cassettes used for MiniDV recording.
Three-chip
Advanced HAD™ CCD Imaging System
Images are captured on three-chip Advanced HAD™
CCD system that provides increased detail and improved video performance
without the color bleeding found in other system. The enhanced CCD design
also allows for more light to reach the imager, which reduces video noise
and improves signal-to-noise ratio by up to 6db (2x better than a standard
CCD).
Carl Zeiss®
Vario-Sonnar® T* Lens with 12X Optical Zoom
From the authority in lens technology, the Carl
Zeiss® Vario-Sonnar® T* lens provides a high quality 12x optical zoom
which maintains image clarity and color while reducing glare and flare.
Standard Mini DV.
With the flip of a switch the HDR-FX1 can record standard Mini DV.

Not directly, but you can dub HDV to HDcam

Can Shoot HDV and down convert to Standard NTSC?
Yes, and it will look fantastic. Tests
that we have run, show that video shot on HDR-FX1 can be rendered out
for standard resolution video or DVD projects and the results are far
better than any other camera in it's price range and some which are far
above.
How can I get balanced audio into the HDRE-FX1?
We provide a Beachtek audio adapter with the
camera which will allow you to use professional audio line and mic level
signals.
